World Series of Poker Returns This August on ESPN for 2010

wsop_2010.jpg

I've been wondering when the WSOP would return on ESPN, and it looks like this August. They will start coverage of the main event, and then takea break for the final tables in November.

Ty Stewart, vice president of the World Series of Poker, took a cue from reality TV when he championed the radical idea of shutting down the action for four months before playing out the "November Nine." For the third year, the Main Event has done just that. The final nine was decided two weekends ago and will resume play Nov. 6 after a 110-day break.

Poker Bill for US Congress Gets the Mark Up

chips-US-flag.jpg

Yes - that's right. Barney Frank is at it again trying to get the poker bill for the US at least looked at and marked up. What's a mark up? It's when the sponsors of a bill add to it and subtract from it in hopes the bill will get passed or even looked.

After a few months of inactivity regarding United States legislation that would legalize and regulate online poker, a flurry of action continued today when another Congressional committee session on the subject was scheduled for Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, the House Committee on Financial Services will mark up H.R. 2267, the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act, a bill introduced by the commitee’s chairman, Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA)

Learning Self Control at the Poker Table One Game at a Time

20100716_inq_ubet16-a.JPG

Poker is a game of skill, luck, and patience. Whether the playing field is a diamond, gridiron or court, the mental side of any game is certainly important. But in poker, where the playing field is about the size of a dining table, the mental side of the game is everything.

In order to better equip themselves for their own competitions at the recent World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, about 45 players took a daylong seminar with two non-poker players whose specialty is the mind - former FBI agent Joe Navarro and mind-set coach Sam Chauhan.

We've never had a mind-set coach but it could help right? Click on through for more info on how this works, but we think one or two classes couldn't but help anyone's poker game.
