The brilliance of this set, is not the death star dealer button. No, its that the LEDs in the case make each set of chips glow like the light saber of the jedi who is represented on the chip denomination. Simply brilliant.
There is a fantastic tee shirt site out there called Busted Tees, and they always have some clever, pithy tee shirts available for you to make your next humorous statement. And for the poker fans out there who want to say something, in a very sneaky way, you can wear this beauty.
If you're the kind of player who also likes to play pool, but you just dont have a place big enough for a full size pool table, an excellent alternative is to get a three in one poker table that has a bumper pool and dining table configuration.
Whats nice about these kinds of tables is that they provide a whole slew of entertainment in a small round configuration. Now bumper pool certainly is no full size pool, but it does offer some decent gaming fun, and it can be quite challenging, even to expert pool players.
Here is some info offered on this $999 beauty offered at PokerTablesExpress.com :
* 54" Round
* Antique Walnut Finish
* Dining Table
* Poker Table
* Bumper Pool Table
* Poker side: 8 built in drink holders with 8 sections to hold your chips
* Retractable pockets
* Black Leatherette Poker top
* Top and base of selected hardwoods and veneers
* Solid wood foot pedestal
* Includes accessories: Balls & Sticks
Matching chairs will cost you an additional $250 each, but the whole rig would look pretty silly with you and your friends just standing around it the whole time.
There is a darker side to poker that isn't often looked at, but every so often it rears its head. Poker is big money, and with big money, crime is soon to follow. Sadly thats just what happened to a player in the Aussie Millions tournament.
22-year-old American Jason Potter saw his first-ever trip to an overseas tournament take a major turn to the worse when he was robbed at knife point while walking back from a McDonald's in the early morning hours of Monday.
Scary stuff. Read the whole article over at Poker News to get the details, and maybe it can serve as a cautionary tale for us all.
Heads-Up Challenge Electronic Poker Gaming Tables From PokerTek
After our story about the PokerPro® table yesterday, the folks at PokerTek contacted us, and let us know they have a new product for the poker lovers out there. Available for your local bar, restaurant, or home game room is the World Series of Poker Heads Up Challenge.
We got this pic off of their site, of Antonio Esfandiari & Phil Laak
trying it out at its unveiling at the last World Series of Poker, and it looks like tons of fun.
The table is basically an automated Hold'Em heads up tournament, and its the perfect little game for some friendly challenges. We can see this being huge at local bars everywhere, and we hope our local pubs are paying attention!
In an odd mash-up of the old video arcade cocktail tables of the past, and the high wheeling poker dealing casinos of the present, we find these very cool electronic poker tables from PokerTek. Their ten player model, called the PokerPro® is set to take the casino rooms by storm. Here are a few of their product claims:
Fast, Mistake-Free Dealing
* The PokerPro® System increases hands dealt per hour, which directly correlates to increased revenue (up to 50% more in Texas Hold’em and up to 100% more in Omaha).
* No wasted time mediating table disputes, PokerPro is 100% accurate.
Decreased Labor
* It requires fewer staff to run a fully-automated poker room, and allows
more time to focus on satisfying guests.
Game Flexibility
* Unlimited number of configurable game profiles.
* Allows operators to run their poker room like a manual room, but more efficiently, since games can be changed at the click of a button.
* PokerPro® Heads-Up™ provides a profitable way to offer heads-up poker.
Extensive Reporting
* Traditionally, poker room managers have had limited reporting tools. But with PokerPro’s daily/weekly reporting capabilities, managers now have extensive information to run a productive and profitable poker room.
Over 20 standard reports:
* Financial Analysis
* Player and Performance Tracking
* Instant Accounting
* Game Evaluation
We haven't yet had the pleasure of seeing them in action, but we sure want one for our gaming room :)
When running your home tournaments, its often overlooked that you end up having the correct denominations of chips for your tournament. But fear not! The good folks over at Home Poker Tourney have done the legwork for you with their fantastic poker chip calculator:
Here is a poker chip calculator to help you test your poker chip distribution for poker tournaments. The calculator will allow you to try out different combinations of poker chip colors and denominations. This poker chip calculator makes it easy to determine the total value of your poker chipset, how many chips are issued to each player, and how many chips remain in your set.
By testing different combinations of poker chips colors and denominations, you can determine the best setup for your poker tournaments. You will eventually discover that there is no perfect poker chip setup that will allow you to hold T1000 tournaments, T10,000 tournaments, and dealer's choice cash games with the same poker chips. You will probably have to compromise and favor one setup over another.

We were just perusing the Internet today, looking for something warm to bring some respite from a bleak winter, when we came across these tropic oasis chips reviewed at Home Poker Tourney. They have a lovely little palm tree on them that reminds us of beaches and mai tais. Whats really interesting about them however, are the edge spots. They go far beyond standard rectangle spot, and have some great shapes like triangle, and trapezoid. Also great for the geometry lover in all of us.
