Not too long ago, we got some items to review from High Hand Designs. They specialize in poker gear of all kinds, but we think their best items are Poker T-Shirts. We got three shirts sent to us, and they were all of the highest quality, and held up fine to our many nights of eating pretzels, spilling beer, and flopping boats.
Now that its holiday time, we think you should head over to High Hand Designs and snag a few of these shirts for yourself, or your poker loving friends. Here's a few of the shirts we think would look great on any poker lover:
So true:
We actually DO love the King Jack:
And we know JUST the jerk this one goes to:
Head on over to High Hand Designs to pick out the Mens or Ladies T-shirt that nails your friend, and while you're there you can scope out their other products like poker room signs, posters, art, and even glassware!

Available for preorder now, and shipping in August, we have found a set of Star Wars Poker Chips. These are 13.5g chips, so they have some decent heft. Sadly they don't showcase any images of the chips themselves just yet. We will be keeping an eye out for when they come to release so we can see if the images on the chips live up to their very cool potential.
"As the poker craze continues we are pleased to offer a rather special variation. Besides the actual equiptment needed to PLAY poker, a great gift can be an item that is about the poker lifestyle. This could be anything from themed jewlery, watches, apparel , or just about anything else you can think of. Poker-Wear.com is a site that sells poker equiptment, but also gear that is themed like poker. Here are some examples of some cool items we though would look nice to your poker loving loved one:
A lovely Roulette themed watch (not quite poker, we know, but it still fits the overall gamer theme)
Poker Card covers are just little trinkets that you place on your hand to ensure it is not collected by the dealer. Sure you could just use a chip, but when you want to show your opponets you have the nuts, you'd be better off using this:
Finally who wouldn't look the part with a poker visor:
So head on over to poker-wear.com and check out all the stuff they have. You are sure to find a great idea or five.
Today's easy gift, is this set of very elegant beer glasses from Bodum. Most home players will tell you they enjoy getting together and socializing with friends as much as the game itself. And with socializing, one will usually find some beer. These bodum glasses would look very nice on the table. They will look even better when their curves are reflecting your loved one's massive chip stack.
Playing a poker game on anything but a felt top is awful. Nothing beats when your cards just slide that perfect amount across the table on your deal. And we just KNOW you have that friend who won't pony up and get a felt top for their regular game, so for you (and them), we reccommend this holdem' top. It folds nicely for travel, and it will make each game feel that much better.

Here's a pair of books that are sure to light up that poker player's eyes on Christmas Morning. Doyle Brunson's Super System and Super System 2. Doyle has been playing cards since those who love the current craze were just twinkles in their monthers' eyes. And his first Super System isn't knows as "The Bible" for nothing. it covers all kinds of poker games, and it will tell you all you ever wanted to know about the game of poker. Super System 2 is a more recent book, not quite as seminal of a read as the first, but still something the poker player in your life will love having in their collection.
There are plenty of gifts out there for the poker player in your life. We'll be attempting to bring you a selection during the holidays that provide you with some ideas while you search around.
First up, we have this nice little chip set. Its got a wide array of accessories, and the chips themselves are the composites we've seen all over at 11.5g. They feel good in the hand, and they plunk nicely on your felt top. What sets this nice little set apart are all the extras thrown in there. You have a dealer button, missed blind chits, and even a reserved chit. We've never seen a home game that needs a reserved chit, but hey, if you're holding a tourney, you could deffinitely see some use with it. New, you're looking at At $179, but if you can snag the used ones at just under $40, this could be quite the steal.
Your friends are out of town, and you can't get your weekly game in? No problem! Just The Chips has the answer!
Just head on over to the your local tavern and participate in the World Tavern Poker Tour!
"The World Tavern Poker Tour is a Nationwide Poker League where you will be competing during the season in Tournament Style Poker Events at your local tavern. The top 20 players in each tournament receive points, and are ranked at the Tavern, Regional and National Levels.
At the end of the season, the top players at each tavern qualify for the Tavern Championship, and the top players from each Tavern Championship qualify for the City (area) Championship."
The rules are pretty simple, and the biggest rule of all seems to be:
"No Gambling
This rule is taken very seriously. Any Tavern or Player caught wagering cash, property or anything of value will immediately be terminated from the league.
NO EXCEPTIONS!"
Poker with no gambling? Is that even fun? As it turns out, yes. Players enjoy the thrill of the game, and the challenge of competing with each other for the bragging rights of winning, as well as for small prizes like t-shirts, hats, and of course, beer.
Those players who do well enough, move up in the tournament rankings and can compete for even bigger prizes.
Now's the time to consider joining a league so you can compete in next year's championships! Take part in the fun at you local tavern now! It looks like we're already nearing the end of the season, but thats no reason not to try and join in the fun for next year!
Harrington on Hold 'em Expert Strategy for No Limit Tournaments
We've covered this book before but just finished reading it. Really good. The different play methods covered is excellent and it's well written. Give it a try.
