Texholdem5ChipGambler's General store now has Texas Hold'em poker chips. I think it's a pretty nice design and gives you that feeling of Texas right away. Also the burning flames in the background evoke that whole in your pocket after a bad beat.

The Week in Review - News Around the Blogpire

Another Summer week passes and tons of cool articles around the Blogpire. Single Serve Coffee.com focused on reviews about Green Mountain K-Cups, Arabica Express Melitta One:One Pods, and a way to win a Keurig B50. Kitchen Contraptions.com was crazy about Egg Cookers, Rainbow Toasters, and of course more Soho Spice Racks. If you like Tennis, What's All the Racquet.com talked a bunch about racquet technology (what else do those guys do?), and Shaving Stuff.com covered a diamond encrusted razor made for David Beckham. Just The Chips.com covered the World Series of Poker and some cool new chips. TV Snob.com continued it's series on how HDTV is totally confusing and how the VCR is dead.

World Series of Poker -- Event #19 Official Report: This One's For Charlie Tuttle

418-1 Poker Player Home Page :: Articles :: World Series of Poker -- Event #19 Official Report: This One's For Charlie Tuttle:
At halftime of the 1928 Notre Dame-Army game, coach Knute Rockne reportedly told his players a rousing story about George Gipp, a great football player who died a tragic death. Stirred by the emotional sermon, the team returned to the field and ended up winning the game. The scene was later immortalized in a 1940 movie Knute Rockne – All American starring Ronald Reagan. “Win one for the Gipper” eventually became a catchphrase used to inspire down and out causes.

Poker stardom in reach

News-1 thedesertsun.com | Poker stardom in reach:
The 2005 World Series of Poker Ladies Event is this coming Sunday, and I'll be there. Last year, there were 200 women playing in it, and they expect the field to double this year.Unlike the WSOP Main Event, to which I won my entry fee, I'll be paying out of my own pocket to enter this one. One thousand hard-earned dollars on a 400-to-1 shot. Ouch. Big ouch. Normally, I'm a low-limit, low-risk player but this is a once-in-a-lifetime moment, my chance at poker stardom.

Poker champ from Connecticut details heist attempt at Vegas resort

I don't think getting dragged into a room with a ton of chips is a great feeling. Wild story!

Newsday.com: Poker champ from Connecticut details heist attempt at Vegas resort:With $150,000 in poker chips in hand, the reigning World Series of Poker champ Greg "Fossilman" Raymer of Stonington, Conn., knew the two robbers who approached him in the hallway of the Bellagio resort weren't looking to chat. "I knew it was a bad idea to let two criminals shove you into the room," Raymer said during a hearing Friday in Las Vegas. "I'm in fear for my safety, my life, my money, everything." Kevin R. Props & Poker

I've never understood props until reading this article so fully. Nice stuff.

LOYAL TO THE GAME - Los Angeles CityBeat: It’s high noon on a Thursday, the last week in May, and the parking lot at Commerce Casino is full. Two years ago, vacant spaces would have answered the adjacent Santa Ana Freeway’s steady rumble with a forlorn echo. Not now. Thanks to the global poker boom, business at Commerce – 10 minutes south-east of downtown – has gone through the roof. The packed, mid-week lot radiates an expectancy: a palpable, sweat-inducing, thrill-seekers’ buzz.

World Series of Poker license - Joystiq - www.joystiq.com: I refuse to categorize Poker as a sport. I absolutely refuse. I don’t care if it is on ESPN. If folkare going to argue about auto racing being asport, and believe me, they do, then to hell with Poker. Sport requires physical endeavour. Lifting chips and cardsisn’t enough. Don’t get me wrong. The poker bug has bitten me hard in a recent months. I’ve even started reading oursister poker site regularly. It still ain’t a sport, though.

E-Poker-Chips.com Releases the History of Poker Chips

E-Poker-Chips.com Releases the History of Poker Chips:
Gaming chips have been made from a wide range of materials in an almost infinite variety of styles since the birth of gambling and the need to keep track of winnings. The most common material types used today in the manufacture of modern poker chips are plastic, clay composite, and acrylic composite. Clay chips, the oldest of the bunch, have been manufactured in America since the late 1800s.

Back in the 1800s, poker players seemed to use any small valuable object imaginable. Early poker players sometimes used jagged gold pieces as well as chips – primarily made of wood and clay. By the 20th century, poker chip designs began to play a greater prominence, and the smooth edges of older chips gave way to chips with engraved slits to keep them neatly stacked together. Most recently, affordable plastic poker chips appeared in the 1940s.

Poker News: World Series Of Poker Greatest Moments

Poker News: World Series Of Poker Greatest Moments:
In the thirty five year history of the World Series of Poker, there have been many a memorable moment. It is the spot where history is made in our great sport. 2005 has a tremendous amount of promise in adding to that history, so I thought it might be time to look back at what have been some of the greatest moments of all time.

While some might notch up Phil Hellmuth's youngest ever win, the onslaught of the young players in 2004 or the effect of women in the same year (all great choices), these are the ones that I came up with. They are in no particular order, and I would be interested in hearing what some others might think are the greatest moments in World Series history!
