POKER CHIPS:
The most popular chips are the 11.5 gram chips. They are filled with metal to have the weight of a clay chip. Actually the metal is there to make them weigh MORE than clay chips....clay chips are about 8.5 to 9 grams. Although the pure clay ones are nicer, the the 11.5 gram ones are still really nice for most home games. A nice clay set with custom made chips will be very expensive..... $0.80 to $1.00 a chip. Many casinos use 10g chips. Among other things, it makes it easier to count them by weighing, i.e., 1kg = 100 chips. Most players have found the 11.5 g chips are the best for the money even though some people notice they make a metally clink when shuffling or tossing them - but it's much better than using light crappy plastic chips.
